Short version: it all stays on your Mac.
Last updated October 31, 2026 · applies to Beaming 0.1.0
What Beaming stores
Your settings live in the app's standard macOS preferences, and your license key in the macOS Keychain. Screenshots go where you save them, and recordings to ~/Movies/Beaming. Pairing an Android phone over wireless debugging stores the pairing the same way adb does. All of it stays on this Mac: nothing is synced or uploaded.
What Beaming sends
None of your device's screen, audio, apps or files. The stream travels from the device to your Mac over USB or your local network only. No analytics, no accounts, no crash reporting. The app makes only two kinds of requests:
- License check with Polar: your license key and this Mac's name when you activate, then the key at launch and once a day to confirm it is still valid.
- Update check with GitHub, once a day: it asks for the latest Beaming release and sends nothing about you.
Devices and permissions
- iPhone and iPad over USB: the device asks you to trust this Mac the first time.
- Android: needs USB debugging or wireless debugging turned on. Beaming runs scrcpy's server on the phone for the session and removes nothing else.
- Local network: for wireless Android and AirPlay Screen Mirroring from an iPhone or iPad.
Buying a license
Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record. Polar receives the details you enter at checkout (such as your email and payment method) and emails your license key. Their privacy policy covers that data. This site does not see your card details.
